Creek Pecan

Carya illinoinensis 'Creek'

Creek Pecan develops into a substantial shade tree with a broad canopy of long, compound green leaves. Its spreading branches create a full crown that provides generous shade as the tree matures, while its annual nut production adds practical value to the landscape. The tree's strong upright framework gradually expands into a wide, well-branched form suited to areas with plenty of growing room. Reaching about 60 to 80 feet tall and spreading 40 to 60 feet wide at maturity, it creates an impressive presence that works well in large yards, orchards, and open landscapes.

  • Deciduous nut tree
  • Green compound foliage and edible pecans
  • Broad, spreading growth habit
  • Fast growth rate
  • Excellent for large yards, orchards, and open landscapes

Creek Pecan thrives in full sun and deep, well-drained soil with consistent moisture. Hardy in USDA zones 6 through 9, it provides substantial shade, edible nuts, and long-term structure in Texas landscapes.

The Creek Pecan is a Type 1 pollinator, meaning its male flowers (catkins) shed pollen before its female flowers are receptive. To produce nuts, Creek Pecans require a compatible Type 2 variety.
