Southern Magnolia Tree Form
Magnolia grandifloraSouthern Magnolia Tree Form opens up the familiar dense silhouette of this classic tree by lifting its foliage above a clearly visible trunk. The raised canopy develops into a substantial crown of thick, glossy leaves, creating shade overhead while leaving the area beneath visually open. Large creamy-white flowers emerge among the dark foliage during the warmer months. Reaching about 50 to 80 feet tall and spreading 30 to 50 feet wide at maturity, this trained form works particularly well where a cleaner trunk line and defined overhead canopy are preferred.
- Evergreen flowering tree
- Fragrant creamy-white flowers and glossy foliage
- Clear trunk with a raised, spreading canopy
- Moderate growth rate
- Excellent for specimen plantings, lawns, and large landscapes
Southern Magnolia Tree Form settles in best with full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. Hardy in USDA zones 7 through 9, its elevated canopy combines the substantial presence of a Southern Magnolia with a cleaner, more open structure at ground level.
