Mamey Croton
Codiaeum variegatum 'Mamey'Mamey Croton refuses to settle on a single color, carrying a shifting mix of green, gold, orange, red, and deep burgundy across its foliage. The narrow leaves curl and twist as they grow, exposing different colors and creating movement even when the plant is still. New and mature foliage overlap throughout the shrub, giving it a layered appearance that can become richer and more varied over time. Reaching about 2-3 feet tall and 1-3 feet wide at maturity.
- Tropical evergreen shrub
- Multicolored, twisted foliage
- Upright, bushy growth habit
- Moderate growth rate
- Excellent for containers, borders, and tropical plantings
Mamey Croton develops its strongest foliage color in bright light, performing well in full sun to partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil. Hardy in USDA zones 10 through 11, it provides vivid foliage contrast and a distinctly tropical presence in Texas landscapes.
