Penstemon digitalis 'Husker Red'Husker Red Penstemon gets much of its character from contrast, pairing deep burgundy foliage and stems with clusters of pale, tubular flowers. The blooms rise well above the leaves, creating a lighter upper layer that stands apart from the darker growth below. Even outside its flowering period, the richly colored foliage gives the plant a defined presence among surrounding greens. Reaching about 24 to 36 inches tall and spreading 12 to 18 inches wide at maturity, it provides an upright accent for borders, pollinator beds, and mixed perennial plantings.
