5 Can’t Miss Spring Garden Tours in Dallas-Fort Worth | 2019 Edition

March 5, 2019

The garden tour season is upon us and I cannot wait to catch a glimpse into some of the most beautiful gardens in DFW. Since my first garden tour several years ago, I have been on the hunt for all of the best garden tours in the area. I am so grateful for all of the talented gardeners and homeowners who open up their personal homes and allow the public a behind the scenes look into their gardens. Below I have organized the best ones in the area and they are in calendar order. Be sure to check their websites for more information and updates before you go, and most all of the tours are rain or shine.

1. Southlake Garden Tour

When: Sunday, May 5th 2019 | Time not released yet
Where: Southlake, Texas – Exact locations are released as the date nears.
Tickets: Visit the website for more info

One of my sweet friends introduced me to this Garden Tour since she is a member of the Southlake Garden Club. Not only is she a skilled gardener but her full time profession is an interior designer and she is the owner of Gee Interiors. With those skills it was no shock that her gorgeous house was featured in the last tour. Checkout some of the pictures that I personally took at the 2017 Southlake Garden tour.

2. Denton County Master Gardener Garden  Tour

When: Saturday, May 11th 2019 | 9am-4pm (Rain or Shine)
Where: Denton County – Visit their website for exact addresses
Cost: Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door

I have not attended this tour before, but I hope to make it to this one as it features 5 beautiful Denton County Gardens. Since these houses are spread out across Denton County and therefore some visitors may not be able to see all of the gardens, they do offer a discounted rate of $5 if you just visit one location. Through self guided tours you will be able to see how each homeowner worked with issues in their yards and how they developed their landscapes and spaces. Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions at each residence. The pictures below are from their website, which features actual houses to be showcased on the upcoming 2019 tour.

3. White Rock East Garden Tour

When: Sunday, May 19th 2019 | 10am-5pm (Rain or Shine)
Where: Dallas, Texas – Exact locations are released as the date nears
Cost: Tickets are $12.50 in advance or $15 at the door

This tour is new to my list and I think this one will be especially impressive because it features some of the most beautiful homes and gardens in Dallas. A special bonus is that these neighborhoods are home to many talented artists who will have their unique creations for sale in the gardens. Below I have created a recap using pictures featured on their website from the 2018 tour.

4. Hidden Gardens Tour

When: Sunday, May 19th 2019 | 12-6pm (Rain or Shine)
Where: Fort Worth, Texas – Exact locations are released as the date nears.
Tickets: All tickets are $25 each, except for infants in wearable infant carriers. Ticket sales begin April 2nd. Visit the website for more info.
Tour Tips:
-Sturdy shoes are recommended.
-Strollers are not permitted beyond the front check-in table.
-Pets are not permitted & no food allowed.
-Photography is limited to the plants only.

This tour is hosted by Historic Fort Worth, Inc. and is a crowd favorite because it’s held in established historic Fort Worth neighborhoods. This is their 16th year hosting and this year the tour will showcase 6 gardens in the charming Park Hill Neighborhood. Each garden tour will also feature an artist who will be painting live and they will also have art for sale. Checkout various pictures from past tours that I found online.

5. Celina Garden Tour

When: Saturday, June 8th 2019 | 9am-4pm (Rain or Shine)
Where: Celina, Texas – Exact locations are released as the date nears
Cost: Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door

Advance tickets are available here online, but they are not printable and tickets will need to be picked up starting at 8 a.m. on tour day in Celina’s historic downtown square, near Walnut and Ohio Streets. Same-day tickets may also be purchased there for $25.

Tickets will also be sold at these four area retailers:
Annie Jack – 222 W. Walnut St., Celina
D&L Farm and Home – 811 N. Louisiana Drive, Celina
Texas Seasons Nursery  – 807 N. Preston Road, Celina
Cristina’s Stone & Garden Center – 14400 Preston Road, Frisco.

This tour is hosted by the Celina Garden Club and it was such a treat to attend their last tour in 2017. They host the tour every two years and this year the tour winds through the picturesque countryside of Celina, providing stunning views of its vast farmlands and gently rolling terrain as well as rare glimpses at several of area’s most impressive gardens.

Food offerings will be available and are still in the works. Right now they have planned for fresh prepared appetizers, food trucks, and jar items to take home. Checkout some highlights below from the 2017 Celina Garden tour that I personally took.

Another tour that I want to mention, even though it’s not a true garden tour, is the North Texas Water Garden Society Pond Tour. The tour is on June 8th & 9th and it is a 2 day self guided tour of 48 of their member ponds all across the Dallas Metroplex. The tour also consists of 14 ponds that are on the enchanted night tour that are open till 11:00 p.m. Instead of tickets they sell a tour book guide for $20 which features 48 pond listings, descriptions, directions and color pictures. It also includes a map and pond related articles of interest. One book per carload will get you access to all 48 ponds. See the Pond Tour page for more details.

The Colleyville Garden Club will be having a garden tour & promenade in 2020, as they have tours every two years. I will follow up with another blog next year featuring the 2020 garden tours. They always have their tour the first Sunday in May if you want to save it on your calendar.

The Annual Water-Wise Landscape Tour is not until the Fall, and that is hosted by the City of Dallas. Last year it was in October, so keep an eye out on the blog for more information on that tour later on in the year.

If you know about any other gardens tours for 2019 please make sure to share them with me. I want to get the word out so these amazing organizations can have the best turnout possible as they serve as fundraisers.
