How to Find the Best Guarantee
Treeland’s objective is to offer our customers transparency and to educate them as to how to make the best purchase not only in terms of price, quality and health of the product but also the guarantee. Throughout the industry it is common for most tree farms and nurseries to issue a 1 year guarantee (Treeland's is 18 months) but what customers often overlook are the “terms and conditions” to these guarantees. While comparing guarantees within the Dallas – Ft. Worth Metroplex we have found that the most common items that void a guarantee are the following: over watering, under watering, insects, disease, acts of nature (i.e. drought, fire, freeze, hail, storms, wind) and owner’s neglect. These exclusions leave us asking “What does have to happen to get a replacement tree?” The most important piece of advice that we can offer to customers shopping for their next tree is to not only compare price, quality and health but to ask for a guarantee “in writing” and review the terms and conditions.

Treeland’s No Omissions Guarantee
Treeland offers the most comprehensive and longest guarantee in the nursery business and our goal is to get your tree replaced as soon as possible without asking a series of questions in an attempt to find an excuse for not replacing your tree. We do not exclude replacing your tree due to excessive or insufficient watering due to human error, over fertilizing, applying incorrect chemicals, owner’s neglect, insects, disease, excessive heat, freeze damage, drought, floods, acts of vandalism, tornado, lightning, etc.
The tree is guaranteed to live for 18 months from the date that it was planted. In the event that a tree or shrub dies customers can choose between one of the replacement costs under Plan A or Plan B (see below). The replacement tree will be of similar shape and size. Our customers can also switch tree types and/or select a larger tree upon replacement (the difference in price is due upon replacement). There is no refund for selecting a smaller tree and only one replacement is offered per tree. Click here for information regarding clearance items and picked up items.
Replacement Costs
Plan A: Treeland charges 1/3 of the invoiced price of your tree to replace it. Any discounts that were applied on the invoice will not be used in the replacement cost calculation. For example, if a Red Oak is invoiced at $275 then the replacement of this tree is 1/3 of that price, which equals $91.67 + tax. Even if volume discounts were applied, the replacement cost would still be $91.67 + tax.
Plan B: Treeland will replace the existing tree at no charge if a customer adds an additional tree or shrub of equal or greater value than the invoiced price. Any discounts that were applied on the invoice will not be used in the replacement cost calculation. For example, if a customer lost a Red Oak that was invoiced at $275 but they wanted to add a Live Oak to their order for $275 then Treeland would bring the replacement Red Oak at no charge and the customers would only pay for the new Live Oak which is $275 + tax.
Rare Acts of Extreme Nature: For events that cause widespread damage to the entire Dallas – Ft. Worth Metroplex, which includes severe freezes and severe city water restrictions that do not allow a customer to hand water at least twice per week, we offer a 20% Discount towards their tree replacement off of current pricing. Treeland has never had to use this clause in its 28 year existence.

Clearance Items
Clearance items are not regularly stocked items and they occur randomly for the following reasons:
- A branch is broken
- The bark is cracked or scraped
- The leaves are burnt or discolored
- The canopy is not full
- The trunk is not straight
Since they occur infrequently we do not guarantee availability or that the replacement tree will be of similar shape or size. If customers need to replace a clearance item they will be given a 2/3 credit towards their new order of our premium stock. For example, if a customer lost a clearance $195 Red Oak they will be given a 2/3 credit of $130 towards their next purchase. So if they replace the clearance Red Oak with a premium stock $295 Red Oak they would pay $165 + tax ($295 - $130 = $165).

Picked Up Items
If customers needs to replace a picked up item they will be given a 1/3 credit towards their next purchase. For example, if a customer lost a $221 Red Oak they will be given a 1/3 credit of $73.66 towards their next purchase.
